According to Namyangju City on May 15, the city held a special career lecture titled "A Time to Share Dreams and Hopes" for 130 current students at Donong High School on the 14th. The purpose of this lecture was to help students seriously consider their dreams and design a concrete future for themselves.
Mayor Joo Gwangdeok personally gave the lecture, sincerely sharing the importance and attainability of dreams based on stories from his own life. He talked about his experiences of moving toward his dreams without giving in to despair, even in difficult circumstances, emphasizing that "a dream is not just a simple goal, but the driving force that helps us overcome life's hardships."
In particular, Mayor Joo quoted lyrics from singer Insooni's "Goose's Dream," adding, "A heart that never gives up, no matter what adversity comes your way, will ultimately lead you to where you want to be."
He also used the "build-up" strategy in soccer as a metaphor, explaining, "Just as you steadily move the ball forward to create opportunities, it is important to build your dreams step by step in life as well."
Additionally, he offered practical advice and encouragement to the students, saying, "Practicing self-control against short-term temptations, developing the habit of consistent record-keeping, and maintaining a focused attitude will ultimately lead you to success."
One student who attended the lecture said, "I used to think vaguely about my career path, but listening to the mayor's story gave me an opportunity to reflect deeply on my own dreams. It was a meaningful time to consider what kind of life I truly want."
Meanwhile, Namyangju City conducted special career lectures at six schools in the city last year, and this year, the city plans to continue supporting the dreams of young people through a variety of career and academic programs.
