Kyungsil Lee's 89-Pyeong Ichon-dong Apartment Heads to Auction

Starting Bid Set at 2.55 Billion Won
Home Likely Auctioned Due to Unpaid Secured Loan

It has been confirmed that auction proceedings are underway for an apartment in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, owned by comedian Kyungsil Lee.

According to JiJi Auction, a real estate auction data company, the auction for Lee's 293-square-meter (89-pyeong) apartment will be held at the Seoul Western District Court on May 27, 2025.

The starting bid for the auction is 2.55 billion won. This apartment, located at the entrance of Ichon-dong, consists of 24 units ranging from 223 to 317 square meters, with many units overlooking the Han River.

According to the registry, Lee purchased this apartment, which was built in the early 1970s, for 1.4 billion won in 2007 and has been residing there since. The reason Lee's home has been put up for auction is believed to be her failure to repay a loan secured by the property.

A mortgage with a maximum claim amount of 1.8 billion won has been registered under the name of an individual identified as A. In September last year, A filed a voluntary auction request with the court, claiming approximately 1.33 billion won. It was later revealed that A transferred the claim to a private lending company.

Ji Juhyun, an expert at JiJi Auction, stated, "The apartment is over 50 years old, and since Yongsan-gu has been designated as a land transaction permission zone, it is difficult to sell, which appears to be the reason it has gone to auction."
