Development of 'Energy-Saving Lighting' to Be Applied to Xi Apartments
First Domestic Integrated Molding Lighting System Developed
'HCL' Lighting Enables Color Temperature and Brightness Adjustment by Time of Day
GS Construction announced on May 15 that it has developed its own 'energy-saving lighting' system, which will be applied to Xi apartments in line with the era of zero-energy buildings.

The energy-saving lighting system introduced by GS Construction can reduce energy consumption by approximately 30 to 50 percent compared to existing systems, thereby achieving both lower electricity bills and reduced carbon emissions. In response to the 'Zero Energy Building (ZEB) Certification System' implemented in January this year and the revised 'Construction Standards for Energy-Saving Eco-Friendly Housing' scheduled to take effect in June, the system is equipped with high-efficiency LEDs and Internet of Things (IoT)-based smart control features.
GS Construction has become the first domestic construction company to develop the 'Hidden Lighting System,' a system in which space and lighting are perfectly integrated. This new concept lighting system integrates direct and indirect lighting in a minus molding form that connects the living room and ceiling.
This system changes the structural paradigm of lighting, with indirect lighting embedded in the ceiling serving as the main light source, while exposed surface-mounted downlights function as auxiliary lighting. It creates a cozy atmosphere without distracting the user's line of sight. In addition to its interior design benefits, it allows for the adjustment of brightness and color temperature according to purpose and mood, enabling the creation of unique spaces.
GS Construction has also developed a new lighting solution that improves sleep quality. In collaboration with ALTO, a lighting specialist company, it has developed HCL (Human Centric Lighting) that adjusts color temperature and brightness according to the time of day, and offers it as an option in Xi apartments. The effectiveness of HCL lighting in improving actual sleep quality has been demonstrated through clinical trials in collaboration with Professor Jung Kiyeong of the Department of Neurology at Seoul National University College of Medicine.
A GS Construction representative said, "Since Xi became the first construction brand to introduce specialized lighting in 2020, we have been exploring ways for lighting to provide genuine satisfaction to customers, beyond simply illuminating spaces," adding, "With the development of this lighting system, we expect to provide a total lighting solution that encompasses not only energy savings but also health and emotional well-being."
