Daehan Electric Wire Visits Elementary School as "One-Day Environmental Teachers"

Experiential Education and Community Collaboration for ESG Practices
Hands-on Activities with Students on Environmental Protection and Safety Management

Employees of Daehan Electric Wire transformed into "one-day teachers." Through educational activities that highlight the importance of environmental protection, the company is engaging with the local community and putting sustainable environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices into action.

On May 14, Daehan Electric Wire announced that it had conducted an experiential education program at Seongdang Elementary School in Dangjin, Chungcheongnam-do, for approximately 100 participants, including all students and children from the affiliated kindergarten. Twenty employees participated as one-day teachers, educating students about the importance of protecting the environment.

Daehan Electric Wire organized the event in collaboration with local organizations such as the Dangjin City Welfare Foundation and the Dangjin Northern Social Welfare Center. The program was designed with a variety of hands-on activities to help children easily understand the value of environmental protection. In particular, for safety reasons, the program was divided by age group, with separate sessions for kindergarteners, lower grades, and upper grades.

Under the concept of "Earth Factory (Milk Carton + Battery)," Daehan Electric Wire ran programs such as the "Moving Stationery Store," where children could exchange used milk cartons and spent batteries for school supplies, and "Ttakji Game," where children made ttakji (traditional paper game pieces) from milk cartons and played together. By experiencing the process in which the milk cartons and batteries they brought were transformed into school supplies and toys, children were able to naturally understand the concept of resource circulation.

Other programs included the "Seed Shop," where children could experience the process of growing plants, and the "Courageous Snack Shop," where snacks were shared using reusable containers instead of disposable ones. These diverse activities encouraged active participation and positive responses from the children.

A representative from Daehan Electric Wire stated, "Environmental education must go beyond simply delivering knowledge and lead to practical actions in daily life," adding, "We hope children will actively practice environmental protection in their everyday lives."

The Dangjin Northern Social Welfare Center plans to expand the program by linking it with major schools in the area for regular environmental education activities. The collected milk cartons and other items will be exchanged for volume-based garbage bags and donated to vulnerable groups.
