Kim Moonsoo: "The Serious Accidents Punishment Act Is a Harmful Law... I Will Amend It If Elected President"

"Yellow Envelope Act Is a Harmful Law...
It Harms the Economy"

Kim Moonsoo, the presidential candidate of the People Power Party, met with small and medium-sized business owners and expressed his intention to amend the Serious Accidents Punishment Act (SAPA).

Kim Moonsoo: "The Serious Accidents Punishment Act Is a Harmful Law... I Will Amend It If Elected President" Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, is delivering opening remarks at a breakfast lecture held on the 15th at the Korea Federation of SMEs building.

On the morning of the 15th, at a breakfast lecture hosted by the "Proud Small Business Owners Council" (Jajunghoe) held at the Korea Federation of SMEs building in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, Kim said, "I wonder whether it is appropriate to apply the Serious Accidents Punishment Act even to small-scale SMEs," and added, "If I become a decision-maker, I will amend harmful laws like the SAPA so that they no longer burden small business owners."

Kim also criticized the so-called Yellow Envelope Act (the amendment to the Trade Union and Labor Relations Adjustment Act) being pushed by the Democratic Party and other progressive groups. He stated, "The Yellow Envelope Act is unconstitutional," and pointed out, "Pushing for the Yellow Envelope Act is an act that harms the economy, based on the idea that small business owners have fewer votes than labor unions."

He continued, "My wife, my older brother, and I have all been union members, and the conclusion we've reached is that without companies, there are no unions; without companies, there is no welfare, and the nation itself cannot be sustained," adding, "The state must do its utmost to nurture companies, which are the most essential and core entities."

Meanwhile, on this day, the Korea Federation of SMEs presented Kim with a booklet containing policy recommendations for the next administration. Kim said, "If I become president, I will keep this booklet in my office and continually review the checklists you have written based on your real-world experiences," and added, "I will serve as a president for SMEs until the day small business owners achieve success in global markets."
