About 140 Awards to Be Given... Applications Accepted Until June 20
Evaluation Criteria Improved for Greater Effectiveness
The Korea Small Enterprise and Market Service announced on May 15 that it will be accepting applications for commendations for contributors to the "2025 Korea Small Business Conference" until June 20.
The "Small Business Conference" is a flagship event held annually on November 5 to commemorate "Small Business Day." It aims to enhance the social and economic status of small business owners, improve public awareness, and widely promote exemplary cases through commendations for outstanding contributors.
The commendations are divided into three categories: exemplary small business owners with outstanding achievements in management innovation and social contribution; individuals who have dedicated themselves to policy and on-site support; and organizations that have contributed to the revitalization of local communities. Each category has its own evaluation criteria and eligibility requirements.
For this year's commendations, some evaluation indicators have been revised to enhance effectiveness and fairness. Similar items have been integrated, and abstract indicators have been made more specific. Reflecting feedback from the field that it is difficult to meet all existing evaluation items, some items have been improved so that applicants can be evaluated based on their strengths. Pre-screening criteria, such as commendation restrictions and required service periods, have also been applied more strictly to further ensure fairness.
The scale of commendations will be finalized through consultations with relevant ministries and is expected to include approximately 140 awards, such as the Order of Industrial Service Merit, the Presidential Commendation, the Prime Minister's Commendation, and the Minister of SMEs and Startups Commendation. The awards ceremony will be held at the "2025 Korea Small Business Conference," scheduled to take place between late October and early November.
