Mayor Nakho Bae and Congressman Unseok Song Join Forces for Gimcheon Innovation City's "New Leap Forward"

Joint Resolution Rally at the National Assembly Urges Second Phase of Public Institution Relocations
All-Out Efforts to Prioritize Gimcheon for Placement

Nakho Bae, Mayor of Gimcheon, visited the National Assembly to meet with Congressman Unseok Song to discuss ways to revitalize Gimcheon Innovation City. The two agreed to work together to expedite the second phase of public institution relocations and to expand infrastructure for the innovation city.

On May 14, Mayor Bae visited the office of the Chair of the National Assembly's Strategy and Finance Committee and held a meeting with Chairman Unseok Song (People Power Party, Gimcheon) to discuss current issues related to improving residential conditions in Gimcheon Innovation City and the second phase of public institution relocations.


At the meeting, Mayor Bae emphasized that the second phase of public institution relocations is essential for the sustainable development of the innovation city and requested active cooperation from the National Assembly.


Chairman Song also pledged support for major projects, including the establishment of an integrated children's medical center, and responded by saying, "I will do my utmost to expand living infrastructure that Gimcheon citizens can truly feel."


At the subsequent "Joint Resolution Rally Calling for the Second Phase of Public Institution Relocations," more than 200 people attended, including representatives from the National Innovation City Council and the Labor Union Council, reiterating the necessity of relocating public institutions from the Seoul metropolitan area to regional cities.


The participants asserted that "additional relocations of public institutions should be based on the principle of moving to innovation cities," and called for practical follow-up measures to improve residential conditions and promote balanced regional development.


Mayor Bae stated, "Together with Congressman Song, we will form a unified team and make every effort to ensure that Gimcheon Innovation City is given priority as the central location for the second phase of public institution relocations. We will use this resolution rally as a turning point to initiate a new leap forward for the innovation city."


Meanwhile, Gimcheon City plans to develop a response strategy for the second phase of relocations at a working-level meeting scheduled for July, and will begin full-scale consultations with relevant ministries.
