On the afternoon of the 14th, Baek Ilheon, Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin District, Seoul, who was elected as the Managing Director of the Korea Local Government Officials Mutual Aid Association, held his inauguration ceremony.
Baek Ilheon, Director of the Seoul Human Resources Development Institute (age 58), was elected as the Managing Director of the Korea Local Government Officials Mutual Aid Association on the afternoon of the 14th.
He graduated from the Department of Business Administration at Sogang University, passed the 2nd Local Civil Service Examination, and served as Budget Officer, Director of Fiscal Planning, and Director of Safety Management at the Seoul Metropolitan Government. He also served as Deputy Mayor of Gwangjin District and was appointed as Director of the Seoul Human Resources Development Institute as of July 1, 2024.
Known for his outstanding character and competence, Baek applied for the position of Managing Director of the Local Government Officials Mutual Aid Association. After Kim Sunsoo, former Deputy Mayor of Yongsan District, unexpectedly entered the competition, the vote was held following the announcement. Out of 54 delegates nationwide, 47 participated in the vote, and Baek was ultimately elected with 38 votes.
Baek, the newly elected Managing Director, is expected to assume his post as of July 1.
The Korea Local Government Officials Mutual Aid Association is known to operate a fund of approximately 30 trillion won, contributed by local government officials nationwide.
