Inspection of Summer Flood and Wind Disaster Response Posture
On May 14, Lee Juho, Acting President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Education, visited the National Typhoon Center in Seogwipo, Jeju, to inspect the summer flood and wind disaster response posture.
This visit was intended to review the data-driven, precise weather forecasting system and to strengthen the nation's proactive disaster prevention and response capabilities, in light of the increasing likelihood of strong typhoons and the growing difficulty of forecasting them due to climate change.
Lee commended the staff of the National Typhoon Center, stating, "The dedication of the employees working under challenging conditions serves as a breakwater that protects the lives and property of the people."
He further emphasized, "The government will continue to respond to natural disasters more quickly and accurately based on scientific data and advanced technology," and requested, "Please make thorough preparations this summer so that the public can feel safe."
