Police and Firefighters Rescue the Man After Three and a Half Hours
A man in his twenties caused a commotion by attempting to jump from a 15-story building near Gangnam Station in Seoul.
At around 3:00 p.m. on the 13th, a man attempted to jump from the rooftop of a 15-story building near Gangnam Station on Seoul Subway Line 2.
The individual who attempted to jump was a young man. Around noon that day, he posted a message in English on his Instagram Story, saying, "I will go live in two hours" and "Goodbye, everyone." In a post he tagged for reference in the story, he wrote, "I started Urbex (urban exploration of buildings, schools, railways, and other man-made structures) for freedom," and added, "I lived a meaningless life due to depression, but the sense of freedom I felt when I climbed a crane seven months ago was astonishing."
Firefighters and police rescued the man at 6:29 p.m., about three and a half hours later.
The man was standing on the edge of the rooftop, appearing as if he might fall at any moment. As a result, police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene and restricted access around the building. According to the fire authorities, 17 vehicles and 58 personnel were mobilized, and seven air mats were installed.
