"Police Sent Someone... But It Was Just an Employee's Prank"
Story Posted on US Online Community 'Reddit'
A customer who purchased a hamburger at a fast food restaurant in the United States discovered the phrase "Help" written on the packaging and reported it to the police, causing a commotion. However, an investigation revealed that the message was a prank by an employee.
On May 12 (local time), the New York Post introduced a recent story posted on the online community Reddit. The main character of the story, referred to as A, is a resident of Lake Wales, Florida, who recently visited a fast food restaurant in Florida. However, when A received the hamburger box he had ordered, he was startled. The words "Help" were written on both the purchase receipt and the box.
A immediately posted on Reddit, asking, "Should I report this to the police? My boyfriend says it's just a joke, but I'm not sure," seeking advice from other users. Within just 24 hours of being posted, the story received more than 10,000 responses. Most users advised that, for safety, it would be best to contact the police.
One user, who said they work in emergency communications, advised A, "911 services can check if you have concerns about someone's safety. If there's no problem, nothing will happen. It's better to contact them now than to regret it later."
After receiving advice from Reddit users, A reported the incident to the local police, but the situation took an unexpected turn. A posted again on Reddit, saying, "When I called the police, they said they would send someone. There was a woman's name on the receipt, so I wanted to report it for safety. It turned out it was just an employee's prank. That's the conclusion."
