World No. 2 Rory McIlroy of Northern Ireland, who has completed the career Grand Slam, is aiming for back-to-back major victories.
From May 15 (local time), the 107th PGA Championship, the second major tournament of the season, will be held over four days at Quail Hollow Club (par 71, 7,626 yards) in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA. A total of 156 of the world's top golfers will compete for the title in this event.

Last month, McIlroy captured the season's first major at the Masters Tournament, becoming only the sixth player in history to achieve a career Grand Slam by winning all four men's major golf championships. After claiming victories at the 2011 US Open, the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championships, and the 2014 Open Championship, McIlroy finally completed the last piece of his Grand Slam with his Masters win after 11 years of pursuit, etching his name in the record books.
This year's PGA Championship is drawing even more attention because Quail Hollow Club is considered McIlroy's "home turf." He has won the Wells Fargo Championship, a PGA Tour event held at Quail Hollow, four times (2010, 2015, 2021, and 2024). Last week, McIlroy finished tied for seventh at the Truist Championship, serving as a tune-up for the PGA Championship.
This year also continues the rivalry between players from the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. Alongside McIlroy, World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and No. 3 Xander Schauffele (both from the United States) are leading the PGA Tour contingent. Sixteen players from LIV Golf, including Brooks Koepka (USA), who has won this tournament three times (2018, 2019, and 2023), and Phil Mickelson (USA), the champion in 2005 and 2021, will compete. Bryson DeChambeau (USA), who recently won LIV Golf Korea, is also considered a contender. Representing Korea are Kim Siwoo, Im Sungjae, An Byeonghun, and Kim Joohyung.
