Awarded at the Food Safety Day Commemorative Ceremony
On May 13, the city of Cheonan, Chungnam Province, announced that it had been selected as an outstanding institution and received an institutional commendation from the Chungnam Governor at the 24th Food Safety Day commemorative event held at the provincial government’s cultural and arts center.
The city was recognized for its efforts in promoting the brand "City of Bread, Cheonan" nationwide and for contributing to the expansion of industry linkages.
The city has strengthened its external competitiveness by encouraging consumption through linking local agricultural products with cultural tourism, and by introducing a walnut pastry quality certification system.
In addition, the city has provided healthy bread-making education for local bakeries and capacity-building training for small-scale bakeries, and has worked to improve hygiene standards by promoting food safety at local festivals.
Lee Sunhee, head of the Food Safety Division, stated, "We will continue to solidify the image of 'City of Bread, Cheonan' and actively strive to raise hygiene standards among food-handling businesses to create a safe food environment."
