Gwangju City to Recruit 516 Participants for Second Half Job Program

Gwangju City announced on May 13 that it will be recruiting 516 participants for the 'Second Half of 2025 Government-Supported Job Program' from May 19 to 23.

The 'Government-Supported Job Program' is designed to provide employment opportunities to vulnerable groups, helping to stabilize their livelihoods and invigorate the local economy. The program is divided into two areas: public work and community job projects.

In the second half of this year, 516 people will be selected for 260 projects, including road safety monitoring and environmental maintenance projects. Of these, 130 people will be recruited for 85 public work projects, and 386 people for 175 community job projects.

Eligibility is limited to Gwangju citizens aged 18 or older who are able to work, whose household income is at or below 70% of the median income, and whose household assets are 400 million won or less. Vulnerable groups such as low-income individuals (at or below 60% of the median income), people with disabilities, long-term unemployed, female heads of households, and those protected under the Single-Parent Family Act will receive additional points.

The employment period will be from July to November 2025, with participants working 15 to 40 hours per week. The hourly wage is set at 10,030 won, reflecting the 2025 minimum wage, and enrollment in the four major social insurances is mandatory.

Citizens who wish to participate should bring their ID and submit an application form at the administrative welfare center or district office responsible for their registered address. District offices will select participants in order of highest score based on the selection criteria evaluation table, and will individually notify the selected participants by June 23. For more details, refer to the announcements on the websites of Gwangju City and the five district offices.

Lee Gyaedu, Director of Labor and Employment Policy, stated, "We hope that this government-supported job program will provide practical help for citizens struggling with economic downturn and job insecurity, enabling them to maintain their livelihoods and expand opportunities for social participation."
