"Need to Establish a Dedicated Department"

Im Seonghwa, a member of the Seogu Council representing Gwangcheon-dong, Yudeok-dong, Chipyeong-dong, Sangmu 1-dong, and Dongcheon-dong, announced on the 13th that during the 2nd plenary session of the 330th temporary meeting, she emphasized the importance of securing space in Seogu and managing public assets through a 'five-minute free speech,' urging the establishment of a systematic and integrated management plan.

Im stated, "Relying on external building leases to address the lack of space at the district office not only results in the payment of hundreds of millions of won in rent each year, but also inevitably creates physical limitations in terms of interdepartmental cooperation, communication, and accessibility for residents." She added, "Furthermore, as administrative demand increases, the available workspace continues to shrink."

She went on to point out, "Individual approaches to securing space for departmental projects lead to the segmentation of space, which limits organic functionality and can further result in regional imbalances."

In addition, she stressed the need for "strengthening interdepartmental connectivity through close collaboration and communication, establishing a dedicated department for public asset management and considering the recruitment of professional civil servants, and the necessity of active and professional management of public assets focused on development and utilization." She emphasized that, from a long-term perspective, an integrated and systematic approach to public asset management is essential.

She further stated, "Today is the golden time to prepare for tomorrow," and emphasized, "For a solid and robust future for Seogu, I ask for efficient and substantial integrated management."

Im has continued discussions on the current status of office space and the use of external spaces with relevant upper-level committees (such as the Planning and General Affairs Committee), in line with the need for organic interdepartmental connectivity. She is also reviewing various options, including the necessity of purchasing assets, to enable public asset management focused on development and utilization.
