Google's 'Real-Time Visual AI' Feature Available

On May 13, Samsung Electronics unveiled the Galaxy S25 Edge, an artificial intelligence (AI) smartphone featuring the thinnest design ever in the S series. The company explained that the device is 30% slimmer than the existing Galaxy S25 Ultra, offers a lighter weight, and maintains robust durability.

No Taemoon, President and Head of the DX Division at Samsung Electronics, stated, "The Galaxy S25 Edge is a product that transcends the limits of ultra-slim technology and revolutionizes the user experience," emphasizing that it is "a new category in the industry that achieves a perfect balance between design and engineering craftsmanship."

The Galaxy S25 Edge features a slim design with a thickness of 5.8mm and a weight of 163g, making it the thinnest and lightest model in the Galaxy S series thanks to its precise engineering and lightweight construction. Compared to the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which was released earlier this year and measures 8.2mm thick and 218g, the thickness has been reduced by nearly 30%, and the weight is 25% lighter.

Another key feature is its robust durability. The front display uses Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2, a new glass-ceramic material for mobile devices, to enhance resistance to damage and cracks. The titanium frame and IP68-rated water and dust resistance ensure reliable usage in a variety of everyday environments.

The Galaxy S25 Edge is equipped with a 200-megapixel ultra-high-resolution wide-angle camera. In addition, a 12-megapixel ultra-wide lens allows users to capture wide frames in a single shot, and an auto-focus (AF) feature has been added for macro photography.

The device incorporates the next-generation Pro Visual Engine, which enhances clarity and detail, and delivers more natural skin tones in portrait photos. However, as there is no rear telephoto camera, features such as 100x digital zoom are not supported.

The chipset is the same as that used in the Galaxy S25 series?'Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy,' which is the most powerful Galaxy-exclusive chipset to date. This enhances on-device AI processing capabilities and delivers fast and stable performance.

All Galaxy AI-based editing features available in the Galaxy S25 series are also supported. Various editing tools such as Audio Eraser, Sketch Conversion, and Generative Editing enable users to create high-quality content.

Through collaboration with Google, users can also experience the upgraded 'Real-Time Visual AI' feature. This goes beyond previous voice and text-based natural language processing by adding a 'screen sharing' function, allowing users to point their camera at their surroundings and receive real-time responses as if conversing with a friend.

The product will be available in three colors: Silver, Jet Black, and Ice Blue, with models offering 256GB and 512GB of storage, priced at 1,496,000 KRW and 1,639,000 KRW, respectively. Samsung Electronics will officially launch the Galaxy S25 Edge in Korea on May 23, with pre-orders taking place from May 14 to May 20. During the pre-order period, customers who purchase the 256GB model will receive a 'Double Storage' benefit, upgrading their device to the 512GB model at no extra cost.
