Incorporation of SK Trichem, SK Resonac, SK Materials JNC, and SK Materials Performance
Combined Sales of Four Companies Reached KRW 350 Billion Last Year
SK Ecoplant will newly incorporate four semiconductor material-related subsidiaries from the group. The company aims to drive growth by strengthening its business portfolio in the semiconductor and artificial intelligence (AI) sectors.
On May 13, SK Ecoplant announced plans to incorporate four material companies?SK Trichem, SK Resonac, SK Materials JNC, and SK Materials Performance?as subsidiaries. These companies are currently subsidiaries of SK Materials, an in-house independent company (CIC) under SK Inc.
SK Inc. will contribute its stakes in SK Trichem (65%), SK Resonac (51%), and SK Materials JNC (51%) to SK Ecoplant in kind. For SK Materials Performance, in which SK Inc. holds a 100% stake, a comprehensive stock swap will be carried out with SK Ecoplant. The incorporation of these subsidiaries is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
The combined sales of the four newly incorporated companies last year reached approximately KRW 350 billion. Through this incorporation, SK Ecoplant will internalize the capability to supply core materials required for key semiconductor manufacturing processes such as photolithography, etching, deposition, and ion implantation, as well as materials for OLED deposition, a key process in display manufacturing.
SK Trichem specializes in precursor materials used to attach thin films to semiconductor wafers. SK Resonac supplies special gases for etching processes that remove unnecessary parts of semiconductor circuit patterns. SK Materials JNC provides blue dopants, a luminescent material for OLEDs, while SK Materials Performance specializes in photo materials used in processes for forming semiconductor circuits on wafers.
With this new incorporation, SK Ecoplant will establish a comprehensive semiconductor service value chain by strengthening its portfolio to include the semiconductor materials sector. An SK Ecoplant representative stated, "We will continue to build a stable foundation for growth by strengthening our business portfolio."
