Suggestions for District Development Ideas, etc.
Jongno-gu, Seoul, is accepting public applications for the "2025 Resident Communication Officer" position until May 16. The program targets residents in their 30s to 50s who were born and raised in Jongno. Its goal is to revitalize the Jongno-style community and realize communicative governance by encouraging proposals for district development ideas and the planning of local festivals and events.
Applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: be a resident who has maintained official residence registration in the district for at least 20 years (or their spouse or child); be a graduate of a local school with at least 10 years of residence registration in the district; or be an 18-year-old or older child from a household with two or more generations registered as residents in Jongno. Applications can be submitted by downloading the required forms from the district office website, completing them, and then submitting them by 6:00 p.m. on May 16 via email to the officer in charge, by visiting the Autonomous Administration Division in person, or by mail.
Jongno-gu plans to select up to five people per administrative district, for a total of 85 participants, who will be officially appointed in June and serve a two-year term. The Resident Communication Officers will be grouped by region, age group, and area of interest, and will engage in various activities such as proposing ideas for district development, planning local festivals and events, and participating in customized communication programs. In particular, to encourage participation from working professionals, the district will also offer cultural lectures and "Hope Day" events on weekday evenings and weekends.
Jongno-gu stated, "We hope that the Resident Communication Officers will serve as a bridge connecting the past and future of Jongno, as well as between citizens and the government, and among residents themselves." The district added, "We will faithfully incorporate diverse ideas for a better Jongno into district administration and strive to improve residents' quality of life and satisfaction."
