...Promoting Physical and Emotional Well-being and Social Skills for Out-of-School Youth at Risk of Seclusion or Isolation
...Unique Sports Activities Including Running and Water Skiing, Career Experiences, and Support for Psychological and Physical Assessments
Geumcheon District (District Mayor Yoo Seonghun) will officially launch the "Healthy Seoul Where Out-of-School Youth Run Together" initiative to support the healthy development and social skills of out-of-school youth who are at risk of seclusion or isolation.
Through this program, out-of-school youth can develop an interest in physical activity and cultivate both physical and mental well-being through various sports activities. The project is organized by the Geumcheon-gu Out-of-School Youth Support Center, Dream Dream.
The program is open year-round to out-of-school youth aged 9 to 24. Around 20 youth who require intensive support will be selected to undergo personality and emotional psychological assessments, as well as InBody physical examinations, to assess their current condition.
Additionally, engaging sports activities such as running, water skiing, and tennis, as well as attending sporting events, will be offered to help maintain physical health and alleviate negative emotions. For youth who aspire to pursue careers in sports or physical education, the program will also provide professional career experiences and counseling.
A district official stated, "This project was selected for the 2025 Seoul Metropolitan Government's 'Companion with the Vulnerable' district support program, securing the entire project budget of 30 million won from the city."
Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon District, said, "We will actively support youth who lack opportunities for physical activity and struggle to form social relationships?those at risk of seclusion or isolation?so that they can strengthen their bodies and minds through sports, build peer relationships, and grow into healthy members of society."
To strengthen community connections, the district plans to hold the Seoul Dream Dream Joint Friendly Sports Day for out-of-school youth at the Geumnarae Culture and Sports Center in June, with participation from Geumcheon-gu, Yeongdeungpo-gu, Gangseo-gu, Yangcheon-gu, Guro-gu, and Mapo-gu.
