Gyeonggi Province to Conduct Comprehensive Audit of Pyeongtaek City Until May 30

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will conduct a comprehensive audit of Pyeongtaek City from May 12 to May 30, 2025.

On May 12, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that, in order to guarantee the autonomy of cities and counties, the audit will focus on delegated tasks stipulated by law or funded by the national or provincial budget. Audits of autonomous affairs will only be conducted if there is suspicion of illegality, such as through reports or media coverage.

Prior to this, from May 12 to May 21, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government will accept public reports.

Reports can be submitted regarding: various inconveniences experienced by residents and illegal or unjust acts by public officials; corrupt practices by public officials; and fraudulent claims or illegal management of public finances. However, matters that would involve investigation or trial, those that may infringe on private rights or privacy, and those already audited or currently under audit by other agencies are excluded.

Lee Seonbeom, Director of Audit Division 1 at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Audit Committee, said, "We will actively reflect public reports to protect residents' rights and interests. At the same time, by increasing the acceptance of audit results based on the credibility of audit actions and the satisfaction of audited institutions, we will strive to ensure that residents can feel the effectiveness of the audits."
