LG Uplus and National Fire Agency Launch "Overseas Koreans 119 Service" Promotion Campaign at Airports

The Overseas Koreans 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service enables Korean nationals to receive prompt consultations from emergency medicine specialists and situation officers stationed at the National Fire Agency when they experience unexpected illnesses or injuries overseas. The National Fire Agency provides information on first aid methods, how to purchase and take medications, and how to access local medical institutions.

Korean nationals staying abroad can use this service 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. The service can be accessed via phone, email, the 119 Safety Report Center website, or through social networking services (SNS).

The Overseas Koreans 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service was launched in 2018, and as of December last year, the cumulative number of consultations reached 18,040. In 2024 alone, there were 4,901 cases, with an average of 13.4 overseas Koreans using the service each day. LG Uplus and the National Fire Agency have selected major domestic airports as key promotional hubs so that more people can utilize this service in emergency situations.

LG Uplus plans to place promotional brochures about the Overseas Koreans 119 Emergency Medical Consultation Service at its roaming centers in Incheon, Gimpo, and Gimhae airports, and to provide explanations to customers who inquire about the service. The company will also support the installation of promotional banners for the National Fire Agency and display images with detailed information about the service on its own digital billboards. The National Fire Agency will strengthen online publicity through video promotions and SNS, and will also conduct on-site events.

Lim Hyekyung, head of LG Uplus's Rate Plan and Partnership Products division, said, "Through this campaign, we hope more customers will recognize that they can receive prompt and professional help in emergencies they may experience abroad," adding, "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with the National Fire Agency to support public safety workers' efforts to protect the public."

Yoo Byungwook, head of the 119 Emergency Medical Services Division at the National Fire Agency, stated, "We will continue to strengthen diverse and effective collaborations so that the public's trust in Korea's fire services is upheld and excellent emergency medical policies can become deeply rooted in people's daily lives."
