Kim Kyungho, Head of Gwangjin District, Visits Jarameuteo Daycare Center in Junggok 1-dong on May 9 for Family Month
Reads Anthony Browne's "My Grandpa" Aloud... Receives Enthusiastic Response from Children
Kim Kyungho, the head of Gwangjin District, visited Jarameuteo Daycare Center in Junggok 1-dong on May 9, in celebration of Family Month in May. He spent meaningful time reading a picture book with the children and sharing stories with them.
This event was organized so that the district head could communicate directly with the children, making eye contact and encouraging their healthy growth. The children welcomed Kim by calling out, "District Head Grandpa!"
The book chosen by the children was "My Grandpa" by Anthony Browne. Kim did not simply read the book; he also engaged the children in natural conversations based on the story. He expanded the scope of empathy by focusing on topics that interested the children, such as "the universe," "grandpa," and "cat." Whenever a question was asked, the children eagerly raised their hands to answer, and their pure reactions filled the room with laughter.
The book concluded with the warm message that "even though all grandfathers may look different, their love for their grandchildren is the same." As a token of gratitude, the children sang a song called "Five-Letter Pretty Words" for Kim.
Kim Kyungho, the head of Gwangjin District, said, "Reading a picture book with the children was a precious time that made my heart clear and warm," and added, "I will continue to pay close attention and provide support so that children can grow up healthy and happy."
