Independent presidential pre-candidate Han Deoksoo attended the 'Europe Day' event held at a hotel in Seoul on May 9.
Han stated, "I am deeply honored to have been invited to the 75th anniversary of Europe Day," and added, "The values of peace and integration emphasized in the 'Schuman Declaration,' which laid the foundation for today's European Union (EU), are also the values most urgently needed in the Republic of Korea today."
Kim Soyoung, spokesperson for Han's campaign, said in a written briefing, "Through his participation in this Europe Day event, Han reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening strategic cooperation with the EU in the future." She continued, "Han, who attended the event, also expressed deep gratitude for the leadership and dedication of Maria Castillo Fernandez, the EU Ambassador to Korea, who is soon to complete her term and return to her home country."
'Europe Day' commemorates the 'Schuman Declaration' announced by French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman on May 9, 1950. It symbolizes peace and integration in Europe.
