Sahmyook University Dispatches 'Wildfire Recovery Volunteer Group' to Andong Region

Sahmyook University announced on the 10th that it dispatched a volunteer group to Iljik-myeon, Andong City, Gyeongbuk, an area affected by wildfires, for five days and four nights from April 28 to May 2 to assist with recovery efforts.

The volunteer group consisted of 128 participants, including 82 students and 46 professors and staff members. They engaged in activities such as removing fire debris, organizing farming tools and crops, repairing greenhouses, and assisting with sowing.


Kwon Hyukmin, a student majoring in social welfare, said, "I was reminded of my professor's words that we must engage with people's lives, not just paperwork," adding, "I believe this experience will lead to a greater sense of responsibility for my major."


President Je Haejong stated, "In an era where most people live only for themselves, I am proud of all of you who volunteered of your own accord," and added, "I hope this experience will carry over into your attitudes toward life in the future."
