Held at Gangnam Station and Samseong Haemaji Park Until October
Gangnam District in Seoul will host the regular street performance series 'FUN&FUN Gangnam' every Thursday evening at Gangnam Square near Gangnam Station and Samseong Haemaji Park until October this year.
Now in its seventh year, this program incorporates contest-winning ideas celebrating the 50th anniversary of the founding of Gangnam District, adding a unique charm to Gangnam as a city of culture.
This year's street performances began on April 24 with a show by the Kukkiwon Taekwondo Demonstration Team and will be held a total of 33 times, excluding the hottest part of the summer. The performances take place every Thursday at 6:30 p.m., featuring a wide range of genres such as Korean traditional music, jazz, pop, and a cappella.
Notably, this year introduces new interactive performances where visitors can participate directly. Monthly themed events include Random Play Dance (June, Gangnam Square), K-POP Dance Challenge (July, COEX K-POP Square), B-boying Performance (August, Dosan Park), Musical Flash Mob (September, Gangnam Square), and Ensemble Flash Mob (October, ASEM Square).
Detailed performance schedules and locations can be found on the official 'Visit Gangnam' website and Instagram account.
Gangnam District Mayor Cho Sungmyung stated, "Through regular street performances, we aim to make Gangnam a city where there is always something to enjoy, no matter when you visit." He added, "By offering high-quality performances that bring cultural spaces to everyday life as well as festivals, we will enhance Gangnam's competitiveness as a tourist destination."
