GS Engineering & Construction is participating in the "Fall Accident Prevention Campaign" organized by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. Yoonhong Heo, CEO of GS Engineering & Construction, also took part in on-site inspections.
According to GS Engineering & Construction on May 8, CEO Heo conducted a safety inspection at an apartment construction site in Songdo, Incheon, the previous day.
In addition, on the same day, GS Engineering & Construction held on-site meetings for all executives to check and prevent fall-related accidents using a checklist, as part of the fall accident prevention campaign.
The fall accident prevention campaign is led by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and aims to prevent fall accidents, which account for more than half of fatal accidents at construction sites. Starting this year, each construction company is voluntarily participating in the campaign with the goal of reducing accidents by more than 10% annually. Through this campaign, GS Engineering & Construction aims to raise awareness of fall hazards among everyone from the CEO to all on-site staff and workers. The campaign includes posting materials to raise safety awareness, conducting on-site safety inspections using fall accident checklists, providing risk assessment training, and showing educational videos on fall accident cases.
GS Engineering & Construction, led by CEO Heo, is making every effort to prevent accidents. Since January last year, executives from all business divisions have been visiting every domestic site on the first Thursday of each month to identify risk factors as part of the "Safety Inspection Day" initiative.
The Safety Inspection Day is intended to foster a company-wide culture that prioritizes safety and quality, and to improve safety and quality at construction sites. Executives listen to on-site feedback and, upon returning to their respective departments, seek practical support measures, ensuring that the support provided is effective.
Furthermore, GS Engineering & Construction is strengthening safety and quality through user-centered digital transformation (DX) at construction sites. The company has developed and is actively using "Xi Voice," an artificial intelligence (AI)-based translation program to facilitate communication with foreign workers on-site.
GS Engineering & Construction has also developed and is utilizing the "GS Engineering & Construction Integrated Safety and Health Platform," which consolidates safety, equipment, and technical information in one place for easy access. The company has also developed "Xi Book," a program that uses AI to allow users to search construction standards at any time.
A GS Engineering & Construction representative stated, "Through this campaign, all executives, employees, and workers will become more aware of safety and be reminded of its importance," adding, "We will do our utmost to strengthen on-site safety and quality through thorough field-oriented management and digital transformation."
