The government's national bond issuance limit for this year has increased from 197.6 trillion won to 207.1 trillion won based on the main budget.
On May 7, the Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that it had revised this year's national bond issuance plan following the recent passage of the supplementary budget bill in the National Assembly.
The government plans to maintain its existing issuance policy, with 55-60% of the total amount issued in the first half of the year and 40-45% in the second half, despite the increase in the total volume.
By maturity, the government will increase the annual issuance ratio of long-term bonds (20·30·50-year bonds) from the previous 35±5% to 40±5%, taking into account conditions in the government bond market and supply-demand factors.
While the principle of equal monthly issuance will be maintained under the revised issuance plan, the government will operate flexibly, considering market conditions and fiscal funding needs.
The Ministry of Economy and Finance stated, "We will continue to actively support the government's fiscal role in responding to urgent issues and promoting recovery of the people's livelihood and economy through the smooth issuance of national bonds."
