Ceremony Held at Lotte World Tower
Established Based on UNESCO and Ministry of Science and ICT Guidelines
On May 7, Lotte held a ceremony at Lotte World Tower in Jamsil, Seoul, to announce its Artificial Intelligence (AI) Ethics Charter. The charter outlines the ethical principles that all employees must follow throughout the entire process of AI development and utilization. The announcement ceremony was attended by approximately 80 executives and team leaders responsible for AI at Lotte Holdings and its affiliates, including Noh Junghyung, Head of Management Innovation at Lotte Holdings.
The Lotte AI Ethics Charter aims to prevent social issues that may arise in connection with AI. The charter is based on six core values: respect for humanity, safety, transparency, fairness, responsibility, and solidarity. It is grounded in the AI ethics guidelines of UNESCO and the Ministry of Science and ICT, and includes the principle that "Lotte will uphold proper conduct and ethical values throughout all processes involving AI, thereby contributing to the enrichment of human life."
Lotte is carrying out AI projects across all areas of the group. The main areas of development are procurement and production, sales, marketing, and customer management. The Lotte Chemical Group improved its operational capabilities last year by undertaking projects in procurement and production. Lotte Chemical developed a synthetic resin color-matching simulation system using AI to identify customer-preferred color combinations, improving daily productivity by 50%. Lotte Fine Chemical established a system for analyzing raw material market trends and predicting contract prices, enhancing efficiency in cost management and raw material procurement.

The scope of the group's AI platform utilization is also expanding. The platform "iMember" allows group employees to use external generative AI without security concerns, resulting in more than 150,000 uses per month within the group. Leveraging this usage record, Lotte Innovate launched external services and signed service supply contracts with six IT solution companies in April 2025. The contracts were facilitated by the accumulated usage data since the platform's launch in October 2023 and the platform's work-oriented features, such as automatic meeting minute generation and report writing. The marketing planning tool "AIMZ" and the data integration platform "Smartreon" are also being adopted by an increasing number of affiliates.
Park Jongnam, Head of the AI Innovation Task Force at Lotte Holdings, stated, "As the group's use of AI expands, the potential risks of AI information distortion, leakage, and human rights violations may also increase. Based on the ethics charter, establishing a communication environment that allows for re-verification and validation of AI outputs will further accelerate the group's AI competitiveness."
