From Harvard Alumni to Local Residents... Warm Solidarity for Yeongdeok

The nationwide wave of donations to support the recovery from wildfire damage in Yeongdeok County, North Gyeongsang Province, continues unabated.


From April 30 to May 2, various organizations, groups, and individuals have donated heartfelt funds and relief supplies, providing both comfort and practical support to affected residents.

First, the following donations were made: Goseong County Office donated 70,780,000 won; the faculty and staff of Daegu Haany University donated 20,000,000 won; residents of Jukbyeon-myeon, Uljin County donated 14,740,000 won; the Jaepo Ganggu-myeon Hometown Association donated 10,500,000 won; and Lee Joongjae, CEO of Miju Precision, the Korean Methodist Church, and the Korea Asphalt Concrete Industry Cooperative Association each donated 10,000,000 won.


Additionally, the following contributions were made: residents of Icheon-ri, Byeonggok-myeon donated 7,000,000 won; members of the Yeongdeok 26 Alumni Association donated 6,400,000 won; Kim Hanyoung, CEO of Korea Engineering Consultants Corp., and Park Sinhye, President of the Yeongdeok County Athletics Federation, each donated 5,000,000 won; the Yeongdeok-Uljin Snow Crab Fishers Association of North Gyeongsang Province donated 4,000,000 won; and both the Shingwang Metal Green Server members and the Yeongdeok County Volunteer Crime Prevention Federation each contributed 3,000,000 won.


Further, the following donations were received: the 4th alumni group of Changsu Middle School donated 2,500,000 won; the Uljin County Council of the National Unification Advisory Council donated 2,360,000 won; the Yeongdeok Probation Council, the Yeongdeok County Judo Association, Kim Haeseong, President of the North Gyeongsang Snow Crab Fishers Association, and Byun Manseok, President of Chuksan Manseok Seonggu Store, each donated 2,000,000 won; the Department of Nursing at Pohang University donated 1,500,000 won; and the Jungdong Volunteer Fire Brigade of Haeundae Fire Station donated 1,000,000 won, all demonstrating their love for their neighbors.


In-kind donations have also continued. The 2nd class alumni association of the Harvard Business School Advanced Management Program donated three vacuum cleaners worth 10,000,000 won; Kirby Korea donated two vacuum cleaners and supplies worth 10,190,000 won; Kim Sangtak and Lee Neunghee, both from the 4th class of Changsu Middle School, donated 3,000,000 won and 150 sets of bedding, respectively; SMRO donated 20,000 masks; and Kim Beopjin, CEO of ValueMap, donated 100 daily necessities.


In addition, through designated donations under the Hometown Love Donation Program, the 49th alumni group of Chuksan Elementary School raised 4,600,000 won; the Jaegu Sangju Sabeol Middle School Alumni Association raised 4,150,000 won; and the Yeongyang Nam Clan Association raised 2,700,000 won to support wildfire victims in Yeongdeok County.


Donations for Yeongdeok County wildfire recovery can be made through general donations via the Yeongdeok Welfare Foundation, or as designated donations through Hometown Love eum and WeGive platforms.
