On May 6, Song Gain's agency, J Star, announced, "Recently, a so-called 'proxy purchase' scam has occurred, in which individuals impersonate our staff to fraudulently obtain money or goods. These scammers approach small business owners, claiming to be Song Gain's manager, and ask them to purchase wine from a specific vendor under the pretense of preparing for a company dinner, promising to pay for it together at the event."

The agency emphasized, "Our staff will never request money or goods from external parties under any circumstances. If you receive a similar request, it is highly likely to be a crime, so please do not send any money or respond. Please verify whether the person is truly our staff, and if you have suffered any damage, report it to the police immediately."

On the same day, Song Gain also shared this information on her social media, stating, "This is an urgent announcement," and once again urged, "Please be careful to avoid falling victim to this scam."

Recently, there has been an increase in scams involving impersonation of celebrities and other well-known figures. The production team of KBS2's variety show "2 Days & 1 Night" also reported that someone has been impersonating the staff to make group reservations at restaurants in certain regions and then not showing up without notice. The production team requested, "If you receive any suspicious contact claiming to be from the production team, please contact the KBS viewer counseling center to verify its authenticity."

Song Gain debuted as a trot singer in 2012 and rose to stardom through season 1 of TV Chosun's "Miss Trot" in 2019. She has released hit songs such as "Gainieora," "Mother Arirang," and "Moon of Seoul."
