Yoon Heesook, Director of the Yeouido Research Institute of the People Power Party, stated on May 6, "If candidate Kim Moonsoo has no intention of unifying the candidacies, he should step down and make way."
On this day, Director Yoon wrote on Facebook, "One politician who changes their words is enough with Lee Jaemyung," making this statement.
Yoon is the first major party official to publicly raise the possibility of candidate Kim stepping down amid the ongoing talks of unification with independent presidential hopeful Han Ducksoo.

Previously, candidate Kim had criticized the party leadership for effectively not recognizing him as the official candidate while excluding him, and with Director Yoon's remarks, further repercussions are expected.
Director Yoon pointed out, "It doesn't matter whether it's Kim Moonsoo or Han Ducksoo," and added, "As everyone has been saying, we need to quickly determine and prepare the candidate who has even a 1 percent higher chance of winning, so we can turn this into a close race."
She continued, "Time is of the essence. The People Power Party should not hesitate and must immediately begin the unification process," emphasizing, "If the commitment to fight criminals and their followers for the nation and the people is sincere, there is no reason for any candidate not to participate."
She added, "If the unification process is set up and candidate Kim Moonsoo still does not participate, it means he deceived party members with lies to pass the primary, and therefore he must be replaced."
