On May 2, Hanwha Ocean held the 'New Safety Culture Commitment Workshop' at the company's Global Center training facility, attended by CEO Kim Heechul and all executives related to production.
The Commitment Workshop is an event where key decision-makers, including the CEO, set fundamental principles and directions for safety at the workplace and pledge to take the lead in practicing safety on the job site.
During the workshop, more than 20 production executives from each business division?including commercial ships, special ships, and offshore?gathered from morning until evening to engage in in-depth discussions on the dissemination and expansion of the New Safety Culture.
As a result, the company established a safety vision of "the world's safest shipyard where all employees return home in the same condition as they arrived," and decided to enhance continuity by reviewing detailed safety measures for each business division on a quarterly basis to realize this vision.
Starting with this New Safety Culture Commitment Workshop, Hanwha Ocean will also implement a 'Safety Mindset Program' for all employees, including partner companies. In addition, safety education focused on strengthening safety awareness will be prioritized in the training program for new employees joining in the second half of the year, ensuring that safety is practiced as the most important value from the moment they become part of the Hanwha Ocean family.
CEO Kim Heechul, who participated in all sessions of the workshop throughout the day, stated, "Creating and maintaining a safe workplace is the foundation for Hanwha Ocean's sustainable future, and safety must be internalized as the company's top value. As CEO, I will provide unlimited support so that all employees can do their best work in a safe environment."

Hanwha Ocean has also signed a partnership agreement with global safety consulting firm JMJ and is receiving professional consulting to ensure that the safety culture is fully established at the worksite. By leveraging JMJ's extensive experience in implementing safety culture programs in environments similar to Hanwha Ocean, the company is accelerating the solidification of its safety culture.
Hanwha Ocean is steadily implementing the safety innovation measures announced last year, totaling approximately KRW 1.9 trillion. The safety investment executed last year exceeded KRW 600 billion, surpassing the original investment plan. This year as well, the company has secured a budget of over KRW 700 billion and is making thorough investments to ensure safety.
