"Reasons for Holding the Party Congress Must Be Clearly Explained"
"The Party Continues to Make Unification Difficult"

Kim Moonsoo, the People Power Party presidential candidate, criticized the party leadership on May 6, stating, "They are showing signs of not officially recognizing me as the presidential candidate," and added, "The party's actions are becoming obstacles to unification."

In a statement distributed to the media that day, Kim said, "The People Power Party has conducted several fierce primary elections through democratic procedures, and as a result, Kim Moonsoo was legitimately elected as the People Power Party candidate according to the will of the party members and the public."

Kim continued, "Yesterday at 8 p.m., I met with Kwon Youngse, the interim leader, and Kwon Seongdong, the floor leader, and requested the party's cooperation in promoting unification and supporting the candidate. While the party promised active support for the candidate, it has so far continued to exclude the candidate and unilaterally operate the party, effectively showing that it does not officially recognize me as the presidential candidate."

He went on to point out, "Moreover, the party has not yet cooperated in forming the election campaign headquarters and appointing party officials, which are essential for smoothly promoting unification. Even the organization to promote unification, which should be led by the candidate, was unilaterally established and notified."

Kim stated, "Meanwhile, the party has announced the convening of the National Committee and Party Congress without disclosing the agenda or items to be discussed. I believe the National Committee and Party Congress are procedures for amending the party constitution and regulations. I ask the party to clearly and explicitly explain the reasons for holding the National Committee on May 8-9 and the Party Congress on May 10-11."

He added, "I regret that the party's actions, which continue to create situations that make the unification process difficult and deepen suspicions, are becoming obstacles to unification."
