Children's Day Message Delivered
Full Support for Talent Development and Basic Birth Allowance
On May 5, to mark the 103rd Children's Day, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeonnam, delivered a congratulatory message to the children of Jeonnam, whom he described as the province's precious treasures. He stated, "I will always be by your side, cheering you on as you pursue your dreams."
In his congratulatory message, Governor Kim said, "It is wonderful to dream of becoming an astronaut, scientist, artificial intelligence expert, artist, athlete, or anything else. The dreams of our children are the future of Jeonnam." He added, "The provincial government is creating jobs in a variety of fields, such as space, energy, bio, artificial intelligence, and culture, so that children can grow up and work in these areas."
Jeonnam Province is implementing a 'Talent Development Expressway' to help children realize their dreams in their local communities. This includes providing gifted education, opportunities for overseas study, and scholarships to fully nurture their talents.
In addition, since last year, Jeonnam has been the first in the nation to provide a basic birth allowance of 200,000 won per month to newborns from the age of one until high school graduation. The province is also leading innovation in childbirth, childcare, and housing by supplying the Jeonnam-style Manwon Housing, which allows young people and newlyweds to live for up to 10 years for a monthly rent of 10,000 won.
