"2025 Jangbogo Seafood Festival" Opens... Wando Heats Up with Festive Spirit

The Return of Admiral Jang Bogo...
Special Performance for the 20th Anniversary of "Haeshin"

Wando County in South Jeolla Province held the opening ceremony of the "2025 Jangbogo Seafood Festival" on May 3 at Wando Beach Park and the Marine Healing Center area, marking the grand beginning of the festival.


Approximately 7,000 people?including local politicians such as Wando County Governor Shin Woochul and National Assembly member Park Jiwon, as well as residents and tourists?attended the opening ceremony to honor the spirit of Admiral Jang Bogo and experience the excellence of local seafood.

In particular, after completing the Democratic Party's 'Basic Social Committee Integrated Launch Ceremony' for the Haenam, Wando, and Jindo regions, Representative Park Jiwon drew attention by experiencing Wando seafood firsthand and engaging with local residents alongside Governor Shin Woochul. Actors Song Ilguk and Lee Wonjong, who appeared in the drama "Haeshin," also attended the event, adding to the occasion.


The opening ceremony began with a spectacular performance under the theme "The Return of Jang Bogo, the Legend of the Blue Sea," and a special concert commemorating the 20th anniversary of the drama "Haeshin," which depicts the life of Admiral Jang Bogo. The festival atmosphere was further heightened with a variety of attractions and activities.

The festival, which runs until May 6, features a range of programs, including a traditional rowing competition, the "Cheonghae King of Singers" event with trot singer Kim Suchan, the "Cheonghae Children's Harmony Festival" in celebration of Children's Day, a "225-meter Abalone and Seaweed Healing Gimbap Making" event created by residents and tourists together, and the "Healing Wave Blue Concert" by the national band YB.


An official from Wando County stated, "We hope this festival will provide families with the opportunity to experience Wando's abundant seafood firsthand and create unforgettable memories in the pristine sea."
