On May 3, National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonshik visited the North Gyeongsang Provincial Government Office and delivered approximately 34 million won in donations to support the recovery from wildfires in the Yeongnam region. The donation was raised through the participation of 2,340 National Assembly staff members.
Speaker Woo stated, "We must take this unprecedented large-scale wildfire as a lesson and establish a new wildfire response system, ranging from climate change response and improvement of tree species for reforestation to reinforcement of fire-fighting equipment." He added, "The National Assembly will do its utmost to help residents return to their daily lives."
Speaker Woo also visited temporary housing facilities for wildfire victims in Iljik-myeon, Andong, where he inspected the site and offered words of comfort to the affected residents.
