Outstanding Cases Highlighted: City Library, Gotgamman, and Sangju Culture and Arts Center
Sangju City in North Gyeongsang Province announced on May 1 that it had selected and awarded six outstanding public officials and one outstanding team for their exemplary proactive administration in the second half of 2024.
For this round of awards, Jang Ahshil, an officer at the Lifelong Learning Center, was named the top public official.
Officer Jang was highly praised for her contributions to establishing the city library as a healing spot in the urban center by organizing cultural events at the Sangju City Library and supporting the 2024 Sangju Comics·Webtoon Festival, which helped the library achieve a cumulative total of 150,000 visitors.
As outstanding public officials, Jeon Janghun from the Public Relations and Audit Office and Yu Deokgeun, team leader of the Rural Support Division, were selected.
Officer Jeon was recognized for effectively disseminating various news about Sangju City through the city’s promotional character “Gotgamman,” while Team Leader Yu played a key role in preventing agricultural damage by developing a smart-based low-temperature damage prevention system.
Encouragement awards went to Officer Jeong Mina from the Accounting Division, Officer Lee Seulgi from the Agricultural Policy Division, and Team Leader Ryu Sumin from the Distribution and Marketing Division.
Officer Jeong was commended for streamlining compensation procedures through an agreement among “Sangju City, Sangju Tax Office, and landowners.” Officer Lee was recognized for promoting the relocation and exchange of the site for the new National Agricultural Products Quality Management Service office. Team Leader Ryu was acknowledged for her proactive efforts in securing treasury contracts to increase non-tax revenue.
The Culture and Arts Team of the Culture and Arts Division was selected as the outstanding team for their contributions to the early start of construction of the Sangju Culture and Arts Center and to building a high-quality cultural and artistic city.
This team played a crucial role in expediting the construction of the Culture and Arts Center by actively interpreting the Subsidy Management Act and undertaking pre-administrative procedures before the post-management period began.
Sangju City selected the outstanding public officials and team through recommendations from all departments and citizens, followed by a first and second round of practical reviews, a third round by the City Coordination Committee, and a fourth round by the Proactive Administration Committee. The selected officials and team will receive certificates and prize money, as well as personnel points and various incentives.
Kang Youngseok, Mayor of Sangju, stated, “At a time when proactive administration that responds quickly to citizens’ expectations and solves problems with creative solutions is more important than ever, our public officials will strive to lead the changes of the times and help Sangju City continue to advance.”
