About 200 Students from the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
Gather at the Gymnasium on May 1
National Pukyong University (President Sanghoon Bae) held the first-ever "College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Sports Festival" at the gymnasium on May 1.
This sports festival was organized to provide full support for students of the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences, who were admitted this year without a declared major, to help them interact, cooperate, and adapt to university life.
The event, hosted by the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences (Dean Hyunkyung Yang), was attended by about 200 students from the department. Participants competed in team events such as soccer, basketball, and dodgeball, as well as in mission relays, tug-of-war, and quizzes.
President Sanghoon Bae also participated in the event, throwing the opening shot before the basketball finals and supporting students by providing prizes for participants from the Office of the President, the Faculty Council, and the Cooperative Association.
With 896 students admitted to the newly established Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences this year, National Pukyong University is implementing a variety of support measures to help them freely explore majors and engage in active exchange activities. These include the sports festival, the establishment of the Liberal Arts and Sciences Guide Center, operation of a major exploration mentoring group, guide professors and major advisors, and the creation of an open lounge.
Professor Hyunkyung Yang, Dean of the Department of Liberal Arts and Sciences, said, "I hope this event will help students in the department naturally become friends, adapt to university life, and feel a stronger sense of belonging to the university."
