Gyeonggi Province has completed the first round of payments for daily life recovery support funds to 5,372 residents affected by the fighter jet friendly fire accident in Idong-myeon, Pocheon, which was declared a special disaster area.
Gyeonggi Province announced on May 1 that, from April 1 to April 15, a total of 5,451 people applied for the Gyeonggi Province daily life recovery support fund at five locations, including the Jangam-ri Small Library. By April 30, payments of 1 million KRW per person, totaling 5,372 people (98.5%), had been made, amounting to 5,372,000,000 KRW in total.
The remaining 79 people are Gyeonggi Province residents outside Idong-myeon, Pocheon, who suffered physical or property damage. Payments to these individuals will be made after final victim confirmation by the Ministry of National Defense and deliberation by the Pocheon City Disaster Basic Income Committee.

Pocheon City ended the operation of its Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters on April 30, following the completion of emergency restoration work related to the fighter jet friendly fire accident on March 6. Instead, relevant departments such as the Citizen Safety Division and the Welfare Policy Division will continue to provide support to residents until the recovery process is fully completed.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province Governor Dongyeon Kim visited the site on March 7, the day after the accident, held a meeting with affected residents, promised to provide Gyeonggi Province disaster consolation payments and daily life recovery support funds, and requested the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to declare the area a special disaster zone.
Kim Sungjoong, First Vice Governor of Gyeonggi Province, said, "I would like to once again express my condolences to the residents of Pocheon who suffered damage from this accident," and added, "We will continue to cooperate closely with Pocheon City for the swift recovery of daily life and the future development of the region."
