Nowon District in Seoul (District Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced that, in celebration of Family Month, it has prepared a variety of cultural and hands-on programs for families to enjoy together and create lasting memories.

First, on May 17 at 2:00 p.m., a special Family Month music concert will be held at the Nowon Mathematics Culture Center. Visitors can enjoy the center’s various exhibitions and listen to beautiful music.

At the Nowon Children’s Library, a special performance for children, “Wonder Magic’s Dinosaur Magic Show,” will take place on May 18 at 3:00 p.m. This magic show, featuring a dinosaur expedition searching for the dinosaurs that children love, is expected to provide a unique delight for young audiences. Registration opens on a first-come, first-served basis through the Nowon District Library website starting May 8.

At the Choansan Pottery Experience Center, a special program is available where families can try their hand at making pottery together. In addition to regular programs, there are also one-day experiences and family classes to make participation easier for everyone. Registration is held online on a first-come, first-served basis starting at 10:00 a.m. on the 9th of every month.

At the Nowon Children’s Theater, the first theater in northeastern Seoul dedicated to children since its opening in 2020, the whole family can enjoy the musical “Dralala Dental Clinic.” This performance conveys the importance of oral hygiene and proper brushing habits through an entertaining story, and will be available until June 1. Special discounts are offered for tickets purchased by May 12.

There are also many spaces throughout the district where families can enjoy walks and outings together.

At the Butterfly Garden in Bulamsan Healing Town, visitors can encounter a variety of butterflies throughout all four seasons. At the Bulamsan Picnic Area, all you need is a packed lunch to enjoy a relaxing picnic in nature, with no other preparations required.

Another popular spot, Hwarangdae Railroad Park, is a unique train-themed space built around the former Hwarangdae Station, utilizing the section of the Gyeongchun Line railway that ceased operation in 2010. Here, there is a caf? where a mini train delivers coffee directly to your table, as well as the Nowon Train Village Swiss Pavilion, which features a diorama recreating a beautiful Swiss railway village. Recently, a special experience facility has been added where visitors can operate miniature trains themselves using a controller.

Other attractions include the Danghyeoncheon Musical Fountain, which combines music and water displays, and Nowon Dumulmaru, a riverside terrace at the meeting point of Jungnangcheon and Danghyeoncheon, offering plenty of urban nature destinations for leisurely strolls and outings.

Meanwhile, on May 3, the “Children’s Day Festival” will be held at Deungnamu Neighborhood Park and Junggye Neighborhood Park under the theme “Nowon Wonderland: Secret Garden.” The festival will feature the “Carrie and Friends Singalong Show,” the “Bebefin Happy Concert,” rides, a bubble party zone, and a variety of activity booths. In case of rain, the date may change, so it is recommended to check the district office website for updates.

Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon District, stated, “We have prepared a variety of cultural and hands-on programs for Family Month,” and added, “I hope you will also visit Nowon’s many outing destinations and enjoy a wonderful May with your loved ones.”
