Gyeonggi Province will promote improvements to the living conditions of 280 households experiencing child housing poverty.
On April 30, Gyeonggi Provincial Government announced that it had finalized the selection of 280 households for the "Clean Service Support for Child Housing Poverty Households" program. This initiative aims to improve the living conditions of low-income families with children who reside in substandard housing, such as those that do not meet the minimum residential space requirements or are located in semi-basement units.
The Clean Service for Child Housing Poverty Households is a program that supports low-income families with children by providing "clean services"?including disinfection and pest control, wallpaper and flooring replacement, cleaning, and storage organization?as well as "appliances" such as air conditioners, air purifiers, washing machines, and dryers, all within the allocated budget.
Since 2023, Gyeonggi Province has provided 840 million won annually through the "Lottery Fund Public Project," overseen by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, to help children live in more comfortable and hygienic environments.
Gyeonggi Province selected the beneficiary households based on applications submitted by cities and counties. The final selected households will each be eligible to choose two home improvement appliances worth approximately 2 million won and two clean services?including mandatory disinfection and pest control?worth approximately 1 million won.
Lee Eunseon, Director of Housing Policy at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Poor housing conditions can have a serious impact on children's health and development," and added, "We will continue to actively support children so that they can grow up in healthier and more stable living environments."
