On April 22, the '55th Anniversary of the Saemaul Undong and the 15th Saemaul Day Commemoration Ceremony', hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, was held at the main auditorium of the Saemaul Undong Central Association in Seongnam, Gyeonggi Province.

April 22, 1970 marks the proclamation day of the 'Saemaul Improvement Movement', which was designated as a national holiday in 2011 to honor the contributions of Saemaul leaders who have dedicated themselves to community and national development. The 'Saemaul Day Commemoration Ceremony' is held annually to recognize these achievements and to carry on the Saemaul spirit of diligence, self-help, and cooperation.

This year's ceremony, marking its 15th anniversary, was organized to widely promote the vision of 'Together Saemaul, Toward the Future and the World', to share the future values of the Saemaul Undong, and to present commendations to those who have contributed to community development through the Saemaul spirit.

On this day, Gun Ho Yeom, a student in the Department of Air Transportation and Logistics at Silla University, was the only university student nationwide to receive the Minister of the Interior and Safety's commendation, in recognition of his exemplary volunteer activities as a member of the Saemaul Club and his outstanding contributions as a member of the younger generation.

Gun Ho Yeom has consistently participated in a variety of activities as a member of the Silla University Saemaul Club, including environmental maintenance, support for vulnerable groups, helping with agricultural work, and running carbon-neutral environmental classes.

Upon receiving the commendation, Gun Ho Yeom stated, "There were times when it was difficult to balance my studies and volunteer activities, but I believe I was able to receive this great award because I never gave up and continued my volunteer work until the end. I will cherish every moment as a precious memory for the rest of my life," and added, "I sincerely thank all the club members who have worked with me, as well as everyone who has supported and encouraged me."

Lee Doohyeong, head professor of the Department of Air Transportation and Logistics, expressed his pride in his student, saying, "Through the warm heart and actions of Gun Ho Yeom, who is both a university student and a member of the younger generation, I see a bright future for our country. I am confident that, along with his volunteer work, he will steadily achieve his goal of becoming an airline operations manager, the career he aspires to in the future."
