Directed by Daisuke Nishio, Director of "Dragon Ball"
Lotte Cinema announced on April 29 that it will exclusively release the Japanese animated film "Magic Candies" on May 28. The 20-minute film is based on the picture books "Magic Candies" and "I Am a Dog" by author Baek Heena. It tells a magical story about a boy named Dongdong, who, unable to fit in with his friends and playing alone, accidentally comes across candies with mysterious powers. The film is directed by Daisuke Nishio, known for works such as "Dragon Ball" and "Kindaichi Case Files," and produced by Toei Animation, Japan's largest animation studio. Last year, it won both the Jury Award and the Audience Award for Animated Short at the New York International Children's Film Festival, and was nominated for Best Animated Short Film at the Academy Awards in the United States.
