HJ Shipbuilding & Construction Receives Top Rating in Shipbuilding Industry Safety and Health Assessment

Score of 92.2 in the Assessment... Achieves Highest 'Excellent' Rating
Only 2 Out of 22 Shipbuilders Receive 'Excellent'

HJ Shipbuilding & Construction has received the highest rating in the 2024 Shipbuilding Industry Principal-Subcontractor Safety and Health Cooperation Level Assessment, organized by the Ministry of Employment and Labor and conducted by the Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency.

On April 28, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction announced that it had received an 'Excellent' rating in the 2024 Shipbuilding Industry Principal-Subcontractor Safety and Health Cooperation Level Assessment, which was conducted at 22 domestic shipbuilding sites. The assessment, implemented by the Ministry of Employment and Labor since 2011, evaluates how systematically companies support and manage the safety and health of their partner firms. It is reported that only two shipbuilding companies, including HJ Shipbuilding & Construction, received the Excellent rating in this year's assessment.

The Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency conducts the assessment for shipbuilding companies with 100 or more regular employees, including in-house partner firms. The evaluation covers the safety and health management system and its effectiveness on-site, hazardous and risk assessments, safety and health education, implementation of on-site safety and health measures, safety and health measures during subcontracting, subcontracting system, and investment in safety and health. The results are converted into scores (out of 100 points) and classified into four grades: Excellent, Good, Average, and Poor, and each company is notified of its rating.

In the 2022 assessment, HJ Shipbuilding & Construction also received an Excellent rating with a score of 92, being one of only three companies among the 21 evaluated that year to achieve this distinction.
