Korea-US Future Mobility Partnering Event
Major US Automakers and Tier 1 Suppliers to Attend
Supporting Korean Companies in Pioneering the North American Market
KOTRA is supporting the entry of Korean auto parts companies into the North American market from Michigan, the center of the U.S. automotive industry.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy and KOTRA (Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency) will host the "2025 Korea-US Future Mobility Partnering" event in Michigan over two days, from April 29 to 30.
This event consists of a 1:1 export consultation session (April 29), a North American mobility supply chain seminar (April 29), and Korea Partner Day (April 30). As changes in the trade environment continue following the launch of the new U.S. administration, KOTRA has prepared this program to help Korean parts companies develop concrete strategies for entering the North American market.
The 1:1 export consultation session, held on April 29, focuses on achieving tangible results by pre-matching domestic suppliers with the needs of local buyers. More than 30 companies, including major U.S. automakers and Tier 1 suppliers, will participate and hold a total of 170 one-on-one consultations with Korean companies.
The North American Mobility Supply Chain Seminar, also held on the same day, will feature current and former OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) professionals and representatives from the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) as speakers. They will provide on-site insights to over 70 domestic industry stakeholders on topics such as the electric vehicle strategies and future outlook of the Big Three in North America, trends in OEM supply chain restructuring and response strategies for Korean companies, and the current status of U.S. automotive tariffs and supply chain strategies.
On April 30, Korea Partner Day will be held at the headquarters of a leading North American Tier 1 supplier in the drivetrain sector. Twenty Korean companies will participate in this event, which includes a briefing on purchasing policies and meetings with procurement officers, continuing the momentum from the previous day's consultations.
Automobiles and auto parts are among Korea's leading export items, with exports to the U.S. in 2024 totaling $34.74 billion and $8.22 billion, respectively, accounting for about 34% of Korea's total exports to the U.S. As the U.S. strengthens its domestic industry-focused trade policies, it is now a crucial time for Korean parts companies to revise their export strategies.
Lee Geumha, head of KOTRA's North America Regional Headquarters, stated, "As access to the U.S. market becomes increasingly challenging, we hope this event will provide a breakthrough for Korean companies' exports," adding, "We will continue our efforts to help Korean companies find new opportunities in the North American market, even under difficult circumstances."
