Geumcheon-gu Expands Eligible Business Types for Knowledge Industry Centers to Include Broadcasting and Smart Farms

Geumcheon-gu (District Mayor Yoo Seonghun) announced on April 25 that it will expand the range of business types eligible to move into knowledge industry centers located outside industrial complexes (individual sites) in the district.

The district decided to ease entry regulations for knowledge industry centers in order to respond to the diversification of the industrial structure and changing business trends, and to reduce the vacancy rate of these centers.

The newly eligible business types resulting from this regulatory relaxation include nine categories: (general and specialized) construction, broadcasting, portal and other internet information intermediary services, legal services, accounting and tax-related services, film, video, and broadcasting program distribution, smart farm vertical farming, industrial machinery and equipment rental, and management services.

The additional eligible business types apply only to knowledge industry centers located outside industrial complexes and do not apply to those within industrial complexes.

A Geumcheon-gu official stated, "With this regulatory relaxation, the number of business types eligible to move into knowledge industry centers has become the largest among all districts in Seoul. We added construction due to the anticipated increase in construction demand from various local development projects, and also included sectors in the cultural field."

Yoo Seonghun, Mayor of Geumcheon-gu, said, "By expanding the range of eligible business types, we hope that a more diverse array of companies will move into knowledge industry centers, create jobs, grow, and vitalize the local economy."
