Gyeonggi Province is launching a support project to enhance the bargaining power of small business owners.
This project aims to help small business owners who are struggling under unfair trading structures by supporting them in forming and operating organizations for collective action. The eligible small business owners include franchisees, agency operators, businesses located in large-scale retail stores, and subcontractors or suppliers.
The main areas of support include: ▲ formation of new organizations ▲ consulting for the operation of existing organizations ▲ counseling for damages caused by unfair trade practices ▲ support with legal document templates, among others.
Gyeonggi Province expects that organizing small business owners will increase their practical ability to respond to trading partners with superior bargaining positions, and that supporting collective activities of socially disadvantaged groups will help reduce social unfairness and irrationality.
Seo Bongja, Director of the Fair Economy Division at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "This will serve as an opportunity for the voices of small business owners to be reflected within the institutional framework and to establish a foundation for preventing actual damages." Seo added, "Gyeonggi Province will continue to expand various policies to establish fair trade practices and promote mutual growth."
