Support for Language and Certification Exam Fees
for Unemployed Youth Aged 19 to 39 in Gangnam District

Seoul's Gangnam District (District Mayor Cho Sungmyung) will launch the "Unemployed Youth Language and Certification Exam Fee Support Program" starting next month, aiming to enhance young people's employability and ease their financial burden.

The program is open to unemployed youth aged 19 to 39 who are registered residents of Gangnam District. It provides support for exam fees for language and certification tests taken after January 1 of this year, with a maximum of 200,000 KRW per person. Support is available regardless of whether the applicant passes the exam, as long as proof of exam participation is provided. Individuals may apply multiple times within their personal limit.


The eligible exams include 27 types of language tests, 540 types of national technical certifications, 242 types of national professional certifications, 97 types of nationally recognized private certifications, the Korean History Proficiency Test, and more, totaling over 900 types. The program is designed to give young people broad opportunities to challenge themselves with various exams that suit their career paths and goals.


To apply, applicants must submit relevant supporting documents to the district office via email after taking the exam. The application period runs from May to December. Applications received from the 1st to the 10th of each month will be processed and paid within that month, while those submitted from the 11th to the end of the month will be paid the following month. The program may close early if the budget is exhausted. Further details are available on the district office website.


District Mayor Cho Sungmyung stated, "We have prepared practical support so that young people can take the exams they want without financial burden," adding, "We will continue to implement policies that support the growth and dreams of young people."
