Kim Dongyeon, governor of Gyeonggi Province and a preliminary presidential candidate of the Democratic Party of Korea, stated on April 27, "From today onward, let us unite even more strongly as true Democrats," and added, "No matter who becomes the presidential candidate, let us come together with even greater strength to achieve an overwhelming change of government."

On this day, at the Metropolitan Area, Gangwon, and Jeju primary and final candidate selection event held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, Kim said, "I am confident in an overwhelming change of government," and pledged, "I will do everything in my power to ensure the success of the fourth Democratic administration."

Kim emphasized, "Once the fog of insurrection and the presidential election lifts, an even deeper economic crisis will emerge," and stressed, "Improving the lives of the people is the value that most truly represents the Democratic Party."

Kim stated, "The tears of President Kim Daejung, who overcame the foreign exchange crisis, the call for national unity by President Roh Moo-hyun, and the struggle of President Moon Jae-in against the pandemic are the proud history of the Democratic Party," and declared, "We will fight and surely overcome this current economic crisis."

Kim appealed, "Now, let us unite even more strongly as true Democrats. With that strength, let us bring together the energy of the people as one," and earnestly requested, "Let us build a deeper and greater democracy within the Democratic Party itself."

Kim declared, "Let us now part ways with the language of division and exclusion, such as pro-Myung, anti-Myung, or 'subak,'" and added, "All of us are one under the name of the Democratic Party."
