The Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center announced on April 27 that it will operate the "2025 Korean Rice-Based Craft Beer Making Course" from May 20 to 28 at the Life and Culture Education Center on the first floor of the center.
This program has been prepared to expand rice consumption in daily life by providing opportunities to experience various food cultures using Korean rice. The course is designed as a hands-on program for "craft beer making" using Korean rice (powdered rice). It will begin with a theoretical lecture on the excellence and importance of powdered rice, followed by practical sessions on craft beer production and bottling, as well as tastings of various types of beer.
The course will be held in two sessions, with a total of 40 participants (20 per session). The first session will be held on May 20 and 27, and the second session will take place on May 21 and 28, with each session spanning two days.
Applications for participants are open until May 9, and can be submitted through Gwangju's integrated reservation platform "Baro Reservation." Any Gwangju citizen is eligible to apply. For more details, visit the "Education Information" section under "Education Plaza" on the Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center website or contact the Convergence Support Team at the Agricultural Technology Center.
Kim Sira, Director of the Gwangju Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "Disseminating recipes that incorporate differentiated processing technologies, such as craft beer making with powdered rice, will serve as a good example of opening new avenues for Korean rice consumption." She added, "We hope for active participation from citizens so that we can reduce dependence on imported wheat flour and contribute to promoting rice consumption."
